Our Path to

Sustainable

Prosperity

At Kruger, our commitment to sustainable prosperity means integrating sustainability into how we operate, innovate, and grow. Guided by this vision, we are working to improve resource efficiency and advance responsible production practices, while supporting a more circular, low-carbon value chain across our activities.

In 2025, we have focused on making sustainability easier to measure and manage across Kruger. This includes:

  • Improving the quality and consistency of data from our divisions and production facilities.
  • Standardizing definitions and reporting practices and supporting more informed decision-making at all levels.
  • Embedding sustainability more consistently into team planning, operations, and collaboration, alongside our core commitments to environment, health, and safety.
  • Reinforcing governance by bringing sustainability more regularly into leadership discussions, board reporting, and cross-functional work.

SUSTAINABLE PROSPERITY •

Goals and Commitments

United Nations Global Compact (UNGC)

Under the leadership of Joseph Kruger II, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, the Kruger company joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) in 2021. As a participant, we are committed to aligning our operations with the UNGC’s Ten Principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. Through our operations and sustainability initiatives, we contribute to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that are most relevant to our activities.

Climate action

Kruger is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving energy efficiency across its operations. Our Kruger Products division is on track to achieve a 35% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions intensity by 2030, while our Kruger Packaging division is a signatory to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). To advance these goals, Kruger has implemented key energy-efficiency and emissions-reduction projects, including initiatives at the Sherbrooke and Crabtree tissue plants and the Place Turcot containerboard mill, which together deliver an annual reduction of 26,596 tonnes of CO2e.

Life on land

Kruger supports the protection of natural habitats through responsible fibre procurement practices aligned with recognized standards such as FSC®, SFI® and PEFC, as well as through initiatives that preserve biodiversity and natural spaces. In Trois-Rivières, the former Boisé des Estacades woodland area, now renamed Grand boisé Kruger, will be protected in perpetuity through an agreement with Fondation Trois-Rivières durable, ensuring the conservation of a 3.2 million sq. ft. natural area and maintaining public access for the community.

Clean water and sanitation

Kruger is committed to improving water efficiency, reducing water consumption and managing wastewater responsibly across its operations. We also seek opportunities to recirculate and reuse process water where possible, helping reduce freshwater consumption while capturing and recovering heat that would otherwise be lost.

Reduced inequalities

We support local initiatives, invest in community projects, and foster community engagement through programs like the “Kruger Big Assist,” which helps make hockey more accessible for families across Canada, financial support for the Québec Games Finals, and partnerships with Indigenous Peoples to provide educational programs such as the Kahnawà:ke Education Center’s STEAM camp. We also continue to build relationships and engage in dialogue with other First Nations communities across Canada to foster collaboration, mutual understanding, and more inclusive engagement.

Decent work and economic growth

We ensure a healthy and safe work environment by dedicating resources to minimize workplace risks and to promote employee wellbeing. Through fair labour practices, competitive compensation, career development opportunities and a culture of respect, we support employees’ professional growth and long-term success.

Quality education

Kruger supports education and continuous learning by providing scholarships for employees and their families, along with career development plans, internal learning platforms, and leadership training. These initiatives help employees build skills, grow professionally, and reach their full potential.

Gender equality

Kruger is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone who works at or joins our Company feels respected, supported, and valued. We promote equal opportunity, fair treatment and a culture of respect, helping ensure that all employees can contribute and grow.

Sustainable cities and communities

Kruger supports the communities where it operates by encouraging employee involvement in local initiatives and supporting charitable organizations that matter to them. Beyond community engagement, our operations and infrastructure are often closely connected to the social and economic fabric of our host communities, including through services and partnerships that support local needs. For example, the Kruger Products tissue mill in Crabtree provides wastewater treatment services for the municipality.

Accountability

Our Kruger Packaging division has committed to setting science-based greenhouse gas reduction targets aligned with climate science and the goals of the Paris Agreement. As part of this commitment, the Company is working to establish Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions-reduction targets, in line with the SBTi framework.

CDP is a global environmental disclosure platform that enables companies to measure and report their environmental impacts. Several of Kruger’s divisions participate in CDP reporting, demonstrating our commitment to transparency and to managing our climate footprint.

EcoVadis evaluates companies’ sustainability management systems across four pillars: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Kruger is assessed annually, and in 2026 the Company was awarded a Gold Medal, ranking in the 97th percentile among 150,000 companies worldwide, reflecting the continued strengthening of our sustainability practices and performance.
