Recycling

One of the Largest Recyclers of Paper and Cardboard in Canada

With recyclability at the very core of our mission, our Recycling group naturally became a centerpiece of our business. It interacts extensively with our other business units, playing a key role in sourcing recycled materials for our manufacturing facilities. Kruger Recycling supplies not only fibres for the manufacture of tissue, paper, and packaging products, but also various materials that are recovered for energy production.

Highlights

  • Expanding recycling capacity and improving transport efficiency:
Investing approximately $3 million to replace two presses, increasing paper and cardboard processing capacity by 150% and producing denser bales of recycled paper, which could reduce transportation needs by approximately 3,000 truck trips per year.
  • Supporting responsible energy recovery:
Diverting railroad ties and residual wood from landfill by using them as recovered fuel at the Trois-Rivières boiler/cogeneration system.
  • Optimizing collection routes:
Densifying collection routes and maximizing the kilograms collected per trip to reduce unnecessary travel and support a shorter recycling cycle
“

Kruger Recyclage plays a key role in advancing circularity by giving recovered materials a second life. Through strategic investments, optimized collection routes and responsible energy recovery solutions, we are increasing our capacity to recycle more, transport more efficiently and reduce the environmental footprint of the materials we manage.
